There's now a very basic identifier generation method. You can pass it any scheme (ignored) and an optional fragment. If fragment it omitted, the "autogen" fragment is used. They look like this:
<fragment>.2012113011041728800

Metacat 2.0.6 now supports UUID (as it should have from the beginning).
